Watch out! Some of the imported market umbrellas are constructed from woods that you've never heard of; some of which are indoor woods that are not capable of withstanding nature's elements. | We use the finest woods available in the construction of our patio umbrellas: Ash/Oak, Mahogany and Teak. |
|
Finish |
Marine spar varnish can crack and peel. | Our Ash/Oak and mahogany umbrellas are finished with an oil-based stain by "Behr" adding extra protection against the elements. Our stain will not crack or peel like marine spar varnish and may easily be refinished. Our Teak umbrellas are hand-rubbed with Teak oil to bring out the natural grain and color of the wood. |
| Many patio umbrellas have separating poles which screw together at the center of the umbrella making it cheaper to ship. We believe that this compromises the overall stability of the frame. | We use 1-1/2" and 2" solid pole construction. This means that our poles have either a 1-1/2" or 2" pole diameter and are made from solid pieces of wood. | |
| Skinny ribs which cause instability. The thinner the rib, the easier it snaps in windy conditions. | Our Ribs are 7/8" x 1-1/4" thick which makes them almost twice as thick as other umbrellas. | |
| Most only give you a few fabrics from which to choose. | We use only 100% Sunbrella acrylic for our tops which are double stitched with reinforced pockets to accommodate our thicker rib. Each top has an extra large wind vent to ensure stability in breezy conditions. Over 100 striking and vibrant stripes, solids, textures, and linens. Soft and textured, it looks and feels far better than vinyl. |
|
| Many manufacturers use inexpensive hardware which can pit and change color in a short period of time.
Many manufactures use rivets which are not very strong |
We use only the finest stainless steel hardware and marine-quality brass in the construction of our patio umbrellas. In addition to being durable, the solid brass pin, chain and eye screws add a more elegant look to our umbrella. We're always amazed that some of our competitors put their umbrellas together using rivets. I guess once they sell you the umbrella, they don't care if it falls apart. |
|
| Many don't even have a single-pulley system | Our Double Pulley System is the most complete in the industry which makes opening and closing the umbrella a snap. | |
| Many patio umbrellas do not have this feature. |
Our solid pole comes equipped with a 10" aluminum protective sleeve.
This sleeve slides into the umbrella base. Without the sleeve, water could come in contact with the wood causing it to swell and distort making it impossible to remove. |
